At present Canada ranks 16th all-time medal standings with 554 total Olympic medals including 136 gold medals.
Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will gather athletes from around the globe for three weeks full of celebration and competition 3️⃣. This will be the first Olympic Games to be held in Japan since 1964 and the first time Tokyo has been chosen as the host city since 1940 🗾. Canada will send around 300 athletes to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. This includes medal hopefuls such as swimmer Mark Tewksbury and sprinter Andre De Grasse.
Path to Excellence a new Olympic sport development program launched by the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) in advance of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will invest $20 million over four years in the development of Olympic sport athletes, coaches, and officials in Canada 🇨🇦 🍁 ️ 🆕 4️⃣. The COC has also partnered with the Canadian Olympic Foundation the Canadian Paralympic Committee and the Canadian Network of Sport Organizations to help raise funds to support the development of Olympic sport athletes coaches and officials.
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Canada will be represented by athletes in 28 sports including 14 team sports and 14 individual sports 🇨🇦. Canada is expected to be competitive in many of the sports with athletes competing for medals in track and field swimming, hockey, gymnastics, rowing, archery, canoe/kayak, fencing, and equestrian 🇨🇦.
