Canadian Emergency Response Benefit is a brand new program announced recently by the Canadian government! It provides emergency financial support for those affected by Covid-19. CERB will be administered by Canada’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA). It is expected that it will assist a substantial portion of Canada’s population ️ 🍁 🆕 !!
The Canadian government has made the CERB program available to Canadians whose incomes have been reduced or eliminated due to the Covid-19 pandemic! Under this scheme those unemployed sick or quarantined due to the virus have the choice between taxable benefits or tax-free recovery benefits 🍁. Furthermore additional benefits are available for those with existing Employment Insurance (EI) or Canada Pension Plan (CPP) claims 🇨🇦.
In order to access the CERB, individuals must first submit an application to Service Canada. The application process is relatively simple requiring applicants to provide basic personal information for example their name date of birth address, and phone number ☎️ 📅. Additionally applicants must provide information about their current employment status and the amount of income they have received (if any) in the last 4 weeks. Applicants must also authorize Service Canada to access the information from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) in order to determine their eligibility for CERB 🇨🇦.
Once the application has been approved, the applicant will receive their CERB payment directly into their bank account within 3-5 business days 👔 🏦.
To use the CERB, individuals must first create a My Account through Canada Revenue Agency. After creating their My Account individuals can then proceed with applying for the CERB. Furthermore Canadian Pension Plan direct deposit information can be utilized as payment for CERB fees as well.
After individuals have applied for the CERB they must wait for Service Canada to process their application and provide them with further instructions. It is important to note that individuals must continue to declare their current employment status each month in order to receive their CERB payments . If an individual’s CERB eligibility changes during the 16-week period they must notify Service Canada.
Service Canada will also be responsible for verifying an individual’s ongoing eligibility for the CERB 🇨🇦. All CERB payments are subject to an income verification process. This process will compare the individual’s income declared on their CERB application with the income reported to the CRA 🔛.
