People who are convicted of sexual offences and given prison sentences or another type of correctional institution as sex offenders. This includes rape and sexual assault as well as child molestation. In order to safeguard the public and reduce the possibility of criminal activity sexual offenders often have to be registered with police and prison officials ®️ 🧒 👮 !!
Canada’s Sex Offender Information Registration Act (SOIRA) applies to sex offenders!! This national law requires them to register their addresses and other personal data with local police forces as well as report any changes in circumstance such as changing addresses or educational institutions attended within 15 days after such change occurs.
The purpose of the SOIRA is to enhance public safety by keeping track of convicted sex offenders. By having an up-to-date list of registered sex offenders police can be notified when a person who is a known risk to the public is in the area allowing them to take the appropriate steps to protect the public ®️ ️ 👮.
In my area there are a number of registered sex offenders. Unfortunately due to privacy regulations it can be difficult to access the details of each individual’s crime and the punishment they were given. However, it is possible to obtain a general overview of the types of sex offenders in my area ️.
As of December 2019 11 registered sexual offenders lived in my area; eight male and three female ®️ 3️⃣ 8️⃣. Ages ranged from 18 to 60 years old . Of the 11, four were convicted of rape, six sexual assaulted, and one had possession of child pornography 6️⃣ 1️⃣ 🧒 4️⃣.
It is important to note that the majority of these offenders have served the entirety of their sentence and have either been released from prison or are currently on parole 🔛. As such, they are subject to a range of legal restrictions and monitoring ️. For example they are not allowed to be within a certain distance of schools parks playgrounds daycares and other places where children may congregate ️ 🏫.
In my area, sex offenders must complete court-ordered treatment and counselling sessions as well as meetings with parole officers, probation officers or other treatment professionals . Furthermore they are subject to electronic monitoring systems like GPS monitoring home detention or other tracking devices .
Despite the measures taken to protect the public from sex offenders it is important for everyone to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings . It is also important to remember that not all individuals who commit sexual offences are registered offenders so it is important for everyone to be aware of potential risks and report suspicious activity to the police ®️ 👮.
Overall sex offenders in my area are subject to a range of restrictions tracking systems and monitoring requirements in order to ensure that they do not present a danger to the public ️. Although the majority of sex offenders have served the entirety of their sentence it is important to remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings in order to best protect yourself and your loved ones . !! .
